6 Tips to Drive Traffic to your Site

Published by administrator the Thursday 19 July 2007 at 09:37 in Articles. 0 comments. Permalink.
Everybody knows that traffic is very important in earning clicks and revenue. However, building traffic is no easy task and requires a certain period of time to do so. In this case, I will try give you five tutorials (may be moe in the future) about the ways to drive traffic to my site.

1. Optimize Your Website

It is a matter of SEO. Maybe you have never heard of it. Even though you heard about it already, not everyone is familiar with it. In fact, Search engines will look at both the internal and external profile of your website while assigning a rank to a web page.
Internal profile of a website (which is so-called On-Page Optimization) includes usage of meta tags, heading tags, keywords, targeted content, and internal linking of website. External profile of your website defines the websites that are linking to your website. It also defines the pages where your link is placed. Besides, it identifies the Page Ranking of those pages along with the placement of your link. And it also includes the number of inward links you are getting. Using the relevant keywords in anchor text gives a boost to rankings on the search engine result pages (SERPs). For more information on On-page optimization, please refer to our relevant posts in Da Adsense Code.

2. Linking Your website

After talking about the on-page optimization, here comes to off-page optimization. More often, webmasters only focus on on-page optimization, and neglect the presence of off-page optimization. In the world of internet, there are two kinds of links - External Links and Internal Links. External Links define the websites that are linking to your websiteInternal whereas Links refer to the internal linking of web pages. Getting links from other websites is the most powerful tool to drive traffic to your website. The results are instantaneous and highly effective. Getting links from quality websites with higher PR and proper anchor text definitely helps your site a lot and results in more fruitful traffic from search engines. Half the battle is won if you are able to provide the links in abundance. There are many tools available for automatically building links to your website. There are some link exchange directories on the net which are a good support in link building campaigns. However, the use of these support systems depend entirely on your beliefs and strategies. Proper inter-linking (that is intra-linking) of your web pages is also relevant and significant in driving traffic.

3. Post Articles

It is important that you publish and post more and more articles on the net or article websites. This gives you an advantage as it gets incoming links to your website. Posting unique articles catering to the interest of a large number of readers is also an effective way of driving organic traffic to your website. Well written articles bring more traffic to your website. More traffic means more profit for you. It is observed that as the PR of your website increases, the AdSense payouts also increase. You can hope to get many more internal links to your website through this medium. Search engines take into account the number of quality back links while assigning rank to your website. If visitors reading your articles are interested, they will check out your website and you will have increased number of links. In comparison to the links that point to other websites from your website, the links that point to your website give more points to your rankings.

4. Anchor Text

Anchor Text refers to the clickable text of a hyperlink. Anchor Text plays an important role with regard to the target traffic as well as the search engine rankings. An appropriate Anchor Text apprises the visitors of the content of the page it links to.
Besides, Anchor Text gives a real clue to the search engines regarding the content of the web page it links to. The right Anchor Text improves your website's search engine ranking. That's why it's imperative to pick the Anchor Text astutely.
Google reckons Anchor Text to be an indicator of the page relevance. Google, using its special operator "allinanchor:keyword", separately indexes the Anchor Text. Given below are some tips for choosing the right Anchor Text that suits the search engine algorithms, and attracts the right traffic.

5. Tools

To a lesser extent, website tools makes your website user friendly. It is recommended that you make use of the tools that are visitor friendly. New scripts and innovative schemes for the visitor help you get more inward links. This in turn builds traffic to your website. You should add the tools that are attractive. For example, you can offer free e-books, or introduce new exciting sections relevant to your website. This will make your website exciting for the visitors. Google loves unique content. It richly rewards the websites that provide more content and better facilities to the visitors. Google likes genuine of traffic coming to your website from Ad Sense network. Genuine traffic yields higher payouts. Website tools makes your website a genuine one. The credibility of your website increases the probability of your website getting high paying ads via Google.

6. Target Niche Keywords
It is important for you to identify the niche markets. This will enable you to fetch the traffic that has not been targeted much, and at the same time gels well with your industry. If your competitor is leading with X traffic on one keyword, you can compete with him by targeting ten niche keywords. This will give you the same amount of traffic. Keyword country provides you with hordes of niche keywords. These niche keywords bring more target traffic to your web pages. This results in a better ROI (if you are selling products or affiliates) or an increased Adsense CTR (Click Thru Ratio) of your ads.

Filtering unwanted traffic

Filtering Out Unproductive Trafffic

Not too long after first setting up my first TGP’s I learned that certain countries tended to be the source of exploits and attacks against my servers. Additionally since the whole idea of running a TGP is to sell subscriptions to adult content sites, it would make no sense to waste bandwidth and server resources to give surfers content who are in countries where they most likely will not be able to purchase those subscriptions. Coupled with the exploit threat, that traffic is just not worth the risk.

After some research I decided to take an approach using the GeoIP country code database, coupled with the mod_geoip Apache module, and rewrite the browser headers with the Apache mod_rewrite module. If you do not use Apache, or if your hosting company does not allow you to enable or install additional modules, this method will not work for you.

So my first step in this process was to find a company that might be able to convert this traffic, or at least pay me something for it. After trying a number of companies I settled in with ICCOCASH, who recently have redone their offerings and simplified their affiliate structure into ICCOCASH2.

The next step was to find a way to determine which country the surfer was from, and after some investigation I settled on the GeoIP database by MaxMind. In order to install GeoIP and to have it accessible to the Apache web server so that a country determination can be done, there is three basic steps that has to be done.

  1. First you need to download the database itself and install to a location on your web server
  2. Then the Apache mod_geoip module needs to be installed
  3. As a final step the configuration file for that module must be told how to find the GeoIP data

In my case all I had to do was create a file in my conf.d directory called geoip.conf with the following entries. Don’t forget to load the module in your httpd.conf configuration file as part of the module install, and restart your Apache after install.

**** geoip.conf *******

GeoIPEnable On
GeoIPDBFile /var/lib/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat

Then I required a way to send the traffic to my affiliate before it consumes any of my resources, and since I was using Apache the solution was simple, the Apache ReWrite module. In my case I already had the mod_rewrite module installed, so if that is not currently installed in your Apache then that is the first step, and depending on your Apache setup there is different ways to do it, and I will not get into that part of the install here.

After the ReWrite module is installed, then one of the ways to instruct Apache to do certain actions is by placing a hidden file in the root of a web server directory with particular directives, and those directives will override Apache’s default setup for that directory and any subdirectory, until possibly overridden again in that subdirectory by another directives file. The name of that file is most often called .htaccess.

So in my case I had to instruct my virtual host, in my virtual host configuration file, to allow the .htaccess file to be processed. I accomplished this by ensuring that I had a number of flags turned on in my setup as follows. In particular notice the AllowOverride All, and the +Includes. Now this has to be done for every virtual host you plan on redirecting.

**** SNIP START*****

Options +Includes +FollowSymLinks -Indexes
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all

**** SNIP END *****

Once that step was accomplished, and I reloaded the web server, then I had to start redirecting my traffic. That was accomplished by creating a .htaccess file in my web root directory. I chose to redirect traffic from China and surrounding areas, Japan, and Brazil. In this case I have separated out each section into a different directive block so that I can track each country with a promo code at ICCOCASH.

**** SNIP START*****

## Override Default RewriteEngine setting

RewriteEngine on

## Redirect Chinese Traffic to ICCOCASH 2
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^CN$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^HK$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^MO$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^MY$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^SG$ [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^TW$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://hqtube.com/gallery/?388401-41 [R,L]

## Redirect Japanese Traffic to ICCOCASH 2
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^JP$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://hqtube.com/gallery/?388402-41 [R,L]

## Redirect Brazilian Traffic to ICCOCASH 2
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^BR$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://hqtube.com/gallery/?388403-41 [R,L]

**** SNIP END *****

Detailed explanation is as follows:

Only once in your .htaccess file you need to turn on the Rewrite Module with the “RewriteEngine on”

The last match before a redirect has to end in [NC] which means ignore case. This line says to enter a condition that if the GEO-IP modules country code matches “TW” which is Taiwan, then do something with it.

RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^TW$ [NC]

But what if you have more than one country? Then the lines preceding this last line would end in [NC,OR].

So essentially this redirect is a block, and you can have as many of them as you want in the .htaccess. As you can see they contain at least one condition, and more conditions if desired, and then there is the summary instruction line that tell the web server what to do with those conditions. In this case the summary line rewrites the header and send them to the galleries over at ICCOCASH with a movie that I thought would be enticing to those surfers. As you can see I have used 01, for chinese type of traffic excluding Japan, 02 for Japan, and 03 for Brazil.

Disclaimer: Of course I cannot be responsible for any damage to your web servers, or setup, etc., from you following these instructions, do so at your own peril. Also you should ensure that every time you change or modify the .htaccess file that you verify your site is running, since an error in the .htaccess will bring down your site.

The power of toplists !!!

Published by administrator the Thursday 19 July 2007 at 12:00 in Articles. 0 comments. Permalink.
This is small tutorial for placing and layouting your toplists to get basic thing which is required for healthy traffic grow - OUTGOING PROD.

I recently started www.pinkmgp.com and searching for trades I realized many, I repeat MANY people don't understand how TOPLISTS are important. And yes they are. They can make night and day difference in your outgoing productivity on traders sites!

Biggest mistake I see is this:
People create thumb site with mass amount of thumbs (all in 1 table) with MAYBE some small spacing each 20 rows, and after that they insert small top 20 trades without any text or anything what would make surfers click!

It's wrong, and even with 70% skim it won't bring your traders good prod from you, so you will need to heavily over send...which you can't because of high % to content, so people mostly simply drop down % to content and here comes another shitty site who's probably going 2 sink soon or at least site will never be of decent quality/size as it could be.

Here is what to do:
Give your best traders decent push from true links, not just skimmed traffic, because each click on toplist is SURFER who IS WILLING to see another page, not forced by you or your script. Because of that he will be click happy and tho increase your OUTGOING PROD.

Here are some guides how to setup toplists:
1) If you can add toplist in header, list your top 3 - 5 traders there, make it stand out, make it different then other elements on page, write some small text description below name, here is sample, what would you click before?

DoMain.com

or

### PinkMGP ###
Huge Porn Collection

2) Add your top 15-20 traders below first table with thumbs, make them in 3-4 cells, make them stand out, make border around it, change background color of toplist table and add different link color, it must STAND OUT!

3) If you want you can continue adding 3 by 3 traders after each next table with thumbs

4) On bottom make toplist with as much as possible trades, and make sure to somehow make 10% of best trades highly attractive by increasing font size or wrapping some text/signs around...so if you have 60 traders in toplist, make 6 of them on top with some description and bigger/bold font!

5) Make toplists SE friendly, it's simple as cake, here is sample code:
PHP Code:
<a href="trade_url" onmousedown="this.href='script_tracking_trade_url'; return false;">Titlea

...this way you will get hits counted and in same time you will give them some SE boost because of extra hardlink to trade site!

6) Think outside of the box, be inventive as possible, toplist can help you to grow your site, add hardlinks to trades you push up, give them virgin skim-free surfers horny as hell and willing to click!

7) Loading toplist links in "_top" target can give you even better and more productive outs but it can hurt your internal prod, it's also thing which can work so it's more then worth testing it!

8) If you make thumb toplists, thumb with text below it linking to trade sites, make highly visible sign that it's partner site, not gallery, because horny surfers don't read, at least 90% of them it's not, so those toplists are fishy to make, people MUST know they will not go to gallery but to trade site!

Summary:
Here are some stats of toplist clicks, you can maybe that way better imagine their importance, stats are site-wide so you can even multiply it by 2 if you use single page site:

Header Top List ~ 1%
Top 12 below first table ~ 2%
Footer ~ 8%
Other hardlinks leading to trades ~ 1%
Total ~ 12% virgin skim free clicks, with amazing out prod!

Toplists are way to go to make your site rock-solid and give your trade partners push they deserve, visit pages that give you best prod, you will see you are high on their toplists, also those with shit prod probably have small toplist on bottom.

Make them big, make them visible, watch for your internal prod, make balance between thumbs and toplists, with right placing/styling you will notice amazing results!

Hope I helped to someone!
